App for schools and teams

The first artcile that was provided for us to read in my technology in Kinesiology class was about an app called Class Dojo. It was funny that was the first artcile because that is something the school I currently teach in has tried to incorporate. Class dojo is a great behavior management tool as well as a great way to have fast, easy, and open communication with students and parents. The entire school could be under one umbrella in the app. If that happens, all of the students in the classes names and the teachers name is listed for any teacher in the school to access, including the enrichment teachers like physical education. If a student is doing something really good even if its just being on task, the teacher could bring up the app on the smart board and give recognition to the student for the whole class to see by giving class dojo points. On the contrary, if the student is doing something wrong then the teacher could also take away class dojo points. The points can amount to some type of reward system that is either per class or school wide. Even cooler then that is the parents can also be connected with their child's class dojo account. The parent could see via email from class dojo every postivie point on negative point their child recieves. The parent could also see the comment that the teacher attached to the point. I think class dojo is a great tool that is already out there and many educators should take advantage of its effectiveness.

If I were to create an app for my school I think I would make it a more interactive and user friendly version of the school website. I think discussion forum's could take place where parents and teachers could share feedback. If you are part of a sports team at the school you could have access to schedules, videos of the team in games or practice. Teachers could use the app to provide information and pictures of current events taking place in the school and the school's community. I think it could be a really good tool for teachers, coaches, and schools to use to create interconnectedness in the school.
